So, we hope you like the new look. This is a long-overdue update to the website to bring a consistent appearance in line with the Arch Linux style. There have been changes in the back-end as well, and that is actually what had held back the update from rolling out sooner.

There is a lot of room for improvement, but a one- or two-man show is not always enough. That is why we have created a separate forum for feedback and suggestions. For obvious issues or feature requests, please use the bugtracker.

Our long-term goal is to eventually have deep integration between the website and external databases, such as the VCS and package repositories. We have a standalone bugtracker in review currently, and we intend to replace our Flyspray installation with it. We also look forward to having an easier VCS contribution process (with regards to setting up permissions and the like).

On other news, there is work in progress currently to have an automated build system for a nightly repository of development builds. We will try to reflect all of our work in Subversion including that of
the website (under the “projects” directory) so that anyone may join in the fun.

That would be all for this announcement – til next time!

Hello! I just uploaded a temporary design to get a uniform look for the site and forums (I know some of you will be happy about this). We are currently in dialogue with the Arch Linux developers regarding the usage of the Arch Linux logo for our little project, hopefully the outcome of this will be cleared soon, so we can continue working on our very own design.

We have been working on the repo and things are already coming together, there has been several commits made and we will continue developing, until we feel that it can be made public.

Until then we hope you will continue to stay with us, and for newcomers, join #archaudio @ freenode for any questions.

edit: reverted themes due to bugs; back to good old defaults until proper integration. –schiv

The old one is: #archlinux-proaudio

And they’re at Freenode (irc.freenode.net).

I had set channel-forwarding in the old channel to auto-send users to the new channel. This includes an invite-only option together with a forward option, so that the user gets rejected from the old one, effectively simulating the automation. Somehow this stops working after a period, as I’ve faced it twice myself. The client I use now (Quassel) doesn’t allow me to be in the channel no matter what, so I have to use something like Konversation to do the necessary re-adjustments. I presumed that by now, those of us who knew #archlinux-proaudio would’ve known #archaudio already. As such, I didn’t bother getting on to the forwarding issue.

Knock me if you have any ideas/suggestions.

Hello everybody! I know it’s been quite a while since i promised to post a status-report and discussion summary from the meeting, but better late then never:)

Things have been busy for me these past months, with deadlines, meetings and planning the future of my company. We are just starting up and there has been alot of preparations which has made it almost impossible for me to focus on this project. Good news is, we got our own office a couple of weeks ago and a new line which will be operational within 3 weeks. This means that the server will be moved and it will have alot more bandwidth, second good news is, I’ve just finished a huge programming job and have more time to spare on this project.

So here’s the summary from our meeting

Repo: Subversion style repository with mainly a Stable/Unstable checkout. We were discussing the possiblilty of using googlecode as our main system, So far there has not been any effort to set up something on googlecode, so I, along with a couple of other people have decided to host our own. There are many reasons why i, personally don’t want to use googlecode, to mention some of them, space issues, legal issues, integration issues, hosting our own gives larger control and can in the future be incorporated in the site’s backend. As far as bandwith and other techincal challenges, the main server will be moved to my new office, if you skipped the intro, I’ve already talked about that further up.

Website: As for the profile, we have already chosen a logo and me (jonkristian) is working on the design and programming. The site will eventually contain a news section, a forum, a wiki, a ticket system and a package browser. There has been talk on using trac, mediawiki, moinmoin, dokuwiki or the likes, prefferable one that contains a bugtracking system. As markuman pointed out along the way, this is a tall order to take on, so it will take some time for it to exist in reality.

If you have any feedback, or feel that I’ve left something out, the post is open for discussion below
